Ubuntu Federal Credit Union (Proposed) is being organized around a simple principle: when communities work together, everyone has a stronger opportunity to prosper.
Ubuntu Federal Credit Union (Proposed) is being organized as a member-owned financial cooperative built on the principle of people helping people. Our goal is to create a trusted financial institution that reflects the needs of the communities and organizations within our proposed field of membership.
The Ubuntu philosophy — “I am because we are” — represents our belief that individual financial progress is strengthened when communities work together.
Through responsible saving, access to fair financial services, financial education, cooperation, and shared economic opportunity, Ubuntu seeks to help eligible members build stronger financial foundations for themselves, their families, and future generations.
Ubuntu Federal Credit Union is currently in the organizing and federal chartering process. If approved, it will operate as a federally chartered credit union serving an approved field of membership.
Ubuntu Federal Credit Union is proposed and is currently in the federal chartering process.
We are not yet chartered, we are not accepting member deposits, and banking services are not yet available.
The organizing team is currently gathering potential-member support, developing the proposed field of membership, conducting planning and research, and preparing the information required for the chartering process.
Ubuntu represents more than a name. It reflects the principle that our individual well-being is connected to the strength and success of our community.
We envision a cooperative that helps eligible members save, access responsible financial services, build financial knowledge, and pursue opportunities that strengthen their financial well-being.
Ubuntu is founded on cooperation. By bringing people and participating organizations together around a common financial purpose, we seek to create an institution where shared participation can produce shared benefits.
Our vision extends beyond today's financial needs. We want to help create stronger financial foundations for families, entrepreneurs, young people, and future generations.
The proposed credit union is being developed with a focus on financial inclusion, responsible stewardship, education, technology, and long-term sustainability.
As a proposed cooperative, Ubuntu's vision is centered on understanding and responding to the financial needs of eligible members within its approved field of membership.
Financial knowledge is an important part of financial empowerment. Ubuntu seeks to support education that helps members make informed decisions about saving, borrowing, budgeting, credit, and long-term financial planning.
We believe growth should be supported by sound governance, appropriate financial controls, responsible risk management, technology, and careful stewardship of member resources.
Ubuntu's founding subscribers and organizing team bring together experience in finance, technology, healthcare, engineering, entrepreneurship, business, governance, and community leadership.
